A Decade in Film Series

Along with the “End of the Year” lists there’s also been a lot of posts recapping the decade. If my memory wasn’t so poor I would probably try a decade recap, but it would be a struggle.

This did give me an idea for my own mini movie series. I want to revisit some of my highlights from the ‘10s and just write a brief post. Talk about if it still holds up for me (especially the earlier ones) and why I think that particular movie was a highlight.

I just feel like I tend to bulldoze through movies. I really want to learn how to slow down, go back and watch my favorites, and not get so consumed by watching ‘the next best thing’.

After some thought I narrowed my list to 20 movies, I decided to review 15 of them, ones that I thought worked with the main premise of my blog. I didn’t include any from 2019 because I’m still processing (also I’m talking about my favorite movies from 2019 tomorrow :D). I’m looking forward to this and I hope you join me!

Here’s what my schedule looks like:

January: Black Swan (2010)

February: Inception (2010)

March: Scott Pilgrim (2010) / Looper (2012)

April: The Babadook (2014)

May: Gone Girl (2014)

June: It Follows (2014)

July: Nightcrawler (2014) / Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

August: Arrival (2016)

September: Logan (2017)

October: The Witch (2016) / Get Out (2017)

November: Annihilation (2018)

December: Hereditary (2018)

I still want to give a shout out to these fabulous five movies:

Whiplash (2014)

The Nice Guys (2016)

Dunkirk (2017)

The Florida Project (2017)

If Beale Street Could Talk (2018)

*Sorry to 2011 and 2013, but I was just not that into you.*
