Classics Club Spin #23

I started the Classics Club’s challenge last September and it has been going… meh. With everything going on right now I’ve just put the list on the back burner. I still have a half written review of Carmilla that’s been collecting figurative dust for a month.

For me this is a great time for a CC Spin! I need a jump start and this is it. For those confused, the Spin is a game where I list 20 books from my challenge list and on April 19th I’m given a number. I have to read and review the book that correlates to that number by June 1st.

I’ll check back on Monday to let everyone know what I got!

1 A Cantide for Leibowitz – Walter M. Miller Jr

2 The Dispossessed – Ursula K. LeGuin

3 Dune – Frank Herbert

4 The Haunting of Hill House – Shirley Jackson

5 The Hobbit – J. R. R. Tolkien

6 Howl’s Moving Castle – Diana Wynne Jones

7 The Last Unicorn – Peter S. Beagle

8 Mysteries of Udolpho – Ann Radcliffe

9 The Neverending Story – Michael Ende

10 Northanger Abbey – Jane Austen

11 Peter Pan – J.M. Barrie

12 The Princess and the Goblin – George MacDonald

13 The Princess Bride – William Goldman

14 Stranger in a Strangerland – Robert A. Heinlein

15 The Time Machine – H. G. Wells

16 The Turn of the Screw – Henry James

17 When Worlds Collide – Edwin Balmer & Philip Wylie

18 The Wizard of Earthsea – Ursula K. Le Guin

19 The Wonderful Wizard of Oz – L. Frank Baum

20 The Yellow Wallpaper – Charlotte Perkins Gilman

      • I am fairly certain I haven’t read as much Sci-Fi as you, but IMO Dune is the Gold Standard. Herbert did for Sci-Fi-Fi, what Tolkien did for fantasy. I’m looking forward to the movie (wouldn’t want to see it before reading it…I get that). The previous version was so horrible, it was almost entertaining…almost.

  1. You have so many great books on your list: “The Neverending Story”, “The Wizard of Earthsea”, “The Princess Bride”, “The Hobbit”. I’d be interested in your thoughts on “The Last Unicorn”. I’ve heard great things, but I haven’t read it.
