The World is Changing: A May Recap

I’m ready to start fresh. I’ve spent the time needed to get through the pandemic. I know Covid isn’t gone but I feel like I’m in a better place.

Now onto something more important…

I stand with the Black Lives Matter movement and I’m behind the protestors. Police brutality needs to end and I think the protests have made it crystal clear that cops have been given too much power, that this is more than just a few outliers. Instead of ‘protect and serve’ I’ve just seen video after video of cops brutalizing peaceful protestors.

I wanted to make my viewpoint clear because I won’t be messing with the All Lives Matter crowd and/or anyone downplaying systemic racism in our country. The unfollow button is over there ->.

In light of everything that’s happened over the past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to examine my own shortcomings and how to be a better ally. In terms of this blog I want to read and watch more SFF and Horror from Black creators and also about their experiences (alongside nonfiction). The last two to three years I’ve opened myself up to more diversity but there’s still room for improvement.

The next couple of weeks I’ll be going into my summer TBR (and TBW?), so this discussion isn’t ending here.

Oh also I didn’t forget about Howl’s Moving Castle! Review will be out later this month and I can’t wait to see the movie. ❤

Be Well and Be Brave,

Tasheena Rose

**As I was wrapping up I saw that Minneapolis city council has announced their intent to disband the local police department. Change is happening, and it’s about time.
